Gearing up for the off
Two solid rides and a quick trip to The Bike Shed in Exeter has got us in good condition for starting this weekend. Firstly, we headed up Staple Hill on Monday evening - only 15 miles but nearly 3 miles of steep climbing which Izzy managed with great aplomb. There will be few hills of any greater incline or height on the trip, so this was very encouraging. Today we flew round a 25 mile circuit, through Bishop's Lydeard, onto Milverton and then Wellington, before heading back to Taunton. Hills and descents were taken well and the overall speed of 10.6 mph above the 10mph that we are planning for the trip.
In between, yesterday, the bikes were serviced by the wonderful people at The Bike Shed in Exeter. Izzy added to her cycling wardrobe with a waterproof, shorts and new top....and looks very smart indeed. One more ride tomorrow and then we will be leaving for JOG!!
