Day Seven...a day late!
Pitlochry to Glenfarg. 42.30 miles. Total: 292.50 miles
The journey resumed from lovely Pitlochry after a 12 day hiatus. Our route took us south along the banks of the River Tay with Izzy stopping reasonably regularly to photograph the stunning scenery. She also had the remnants of her trip to the World Cup on her arm: 'Come on England' in large black writing - something that might have got us into trouble in certain areas of Scotland! Coffee, thanks to Heidi and Martha, in Dunkeld was followed by an easy ride through the rolling landscape and around the cycle routes of Perth. It all was going very well until we hit the hill into Glenfarg. When I say hill, I really mean 'wall'! We slowly ascended, hoping that the summit was around the next bend but finding only the inexorable climb continuing. Finally we were on the downward final stretch and Izzy's remarkable energy was best illustrated by being challenged to trigger the speed gun on the way into Glenfarg. Challenge accepted and achieved....!
We stayed the night with Heidi's cousin, Corinna, and her family in Dunning. And what a treat this was: Corinna had arranged with the Spa at Gleneagles that we could all go there to sooth away the tiredness of the ride. Tomorrow we head into Edinburgh, on the first day of the Festival!
