Charities being supported
The charities that we have chosen to raise money for are:
Ferne Animal Sanctuary
Ferne Animal Sanctuary was initially set up during the Second World War to care for animals of men and women called to fight in Europe. Over the past 75 years it has continued to look after and re-home abandoned animals.
As someone who loves all animals and am lucky enough to have my own dog at home, I have always wanted to raise money for a local animal charity, to help find good, safe refuge for these wonderful animals.
Further details can be found at their website:
Teenage Cancer Trust
The Teenage Cancer Trust raises money to help care for young people who are fighting cancer. They provide specialist care and support but, as the only UK charity of this kind, currently they can only provide approximately half of the care that is required.
Cancer is something that can, and will, affect us all. Further details of can be found at their website:
Teenage mental health is an ever-increasing concern amongst those of us in education. Pressures from society, parents, peers and teenagers themselves cause many young people to experience mental health issues, from minor crises of confidence to major long-term issues.
Young Minds is a national charity which works to empower and support teenagers, whatever their challenges. Further information on the charity can be found at
